The Argentine Republic is located in the South East extreme of South America. The Argentine territory is divided into 23 provinces and the City of Buenos Aires, the Capital City of the Argentine Republic, seat of the Federal Government.
The production of agricultural and livestock foods is one of the axis of the Argentine economy. In 2007, rural production -including the forest sector- totaled 5,61% of the Domestic Gross Product.
The main agricultural products of the country are as follows: Grains -soya bean and sunflower- and cereals -corn and wheat-.
Bovine cattle -Angus, Hereford, and Shorthorn-, and cattle for the production of dairy products -Holando Argentino-.
Cereals, dairy products, and beef constitute the basis of the Argentine population diet, this is the reason why an important proportion is allocated to the domestic market consumption.
There exist small scale productive systems, among them we find the economy from the region of “Cuyo” which main activity is the vine production and the wine industry; the valleys in the “Patagonia” produce apples and pears; the North West region produces sugar, citrus fruits, and tobacco; while the North East region produces mate, tea, wood, cotton, and rice; and ovine cattle in the “Patagonia”.
The Argentine gastronomy is basically underlined by Argentine beef and wines. The typical Argentine food is the “Asado” or grilled beef, -grilled bovine meat and offals-, as well as the “Empanadas” -pie filled with beef, vegetables, among other ingredients, “Corn Tamales”, and the “Locro” -meat and vegetable stew-.
The Argentine Republic offers a great variety of weathers. Generally, the weather is mild, even though there exists a subtropical weather in the North region and a subpolar one in the South region of the country.

Moreover, Argentina is one of the countries declared free of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy. These are one of the main reasons that make our meats one of the best gastronomic options worldwide.
