THE WORLD MEAT CONGRESS 2010 WILL BE HELD IN ARGENTINA

For the second time in its history, the venue for the World Meat Congress will be the Argentine Republic. The biannual event organized by the International Meat Secretariat summons the main beef, and ovine and pork meat producers.

Between September 26 and 29, 2010, the Argentine Republic will be the venue for the 18th World Meat Congress, which is organized every two years with the attendance of worldwide professionals.

History, tradition, and prestige in bovine production, large lands in which the best ovine breeds pasture, and a pushing and growing pork production guarantee the perfect framework for the sector’s discussion.

During the event, current market tendences will be deeply analyzed, as well as the searching, discussion, and proposal of mechanisms which allow a sustaintable production.

“The whole world is defeating the finantial crisis, and animal proteins’ demand is forecasted to keep on growing. Therefore, the challenge of our countries is to increase the production guaranteeing sustainability and environmental care”, said Arturo Llavallol, President of the Congress Executive Committee.

The 18th World Meat Congress will be held in the “Predio Ferial La Rural”, in the city of Buenos Aires, Juncal St. 4431, September 28 and 29, 2010. The OPIC Annual Meeting will be held the days before.

World experts will discuss subjects such as animal health and meat markets, and the above mentioned matters related to sustainability. Moreover, panels will discuss specific subjects such as “Knowing the Consumers’ Demand”, and “The New Protectionism”.

The World Congress is organized by the Argentine Beef Promotion Institute, a  public non-governmental institution founded by agreement of all the beef chain representatives to improve and consolidate the Argentine beef products image worldwide.

“We are proud to be chosen by the world as venue for the World Meat Congress when the Argentine production is facing very difficult times, and we are also proud of the Argentine Beef Promotion Institute for being the organizer”, said Dardo Chiesa, President of the Institute. “This makes us feel confident in our commitment and effort to keep on working for the Argentine lands”.
